POWER WINDOWS SWITCH ASS'Y V70 2005 V70-XC70

Does a new power windows switch (even used) needs to me reprogrammed in some ways when installed for the 1st time into a car?

The side mirrors joy stick is not working anymore on mine and bought an other switch ass'y at the wreck yard but absolutely nothing worked.

Returned it and get an other one but same problem, nothing is working on this one too. Reinstalled the old one and everything is fine besides the side mirrors adj.

Called and the guy told me that its impossible that 2 switch assemblies being defective: it might need to be reprogrammed for the car he said.
Is that possible? I've never heard of that in the past.

Thanks

The drivers door module(DDM) should have a little white sticker with numbers on it. When I swapped mine I believe at least two of the three numbers matched. It worked fine with no programming. Also I believe the replacement may have to be from the same year car.

Have you tried taking the module FULLY apart and cleaning the internal contacts associated with the mirror control? I’m not near my car at the moment but have you checked to see if there is a fuse dedicated to the mirror motors?

Hi Chris, I checked all fuses and they were all OK. During the meantime, I've tried this afternoon an other unit from an other wreck yard, same thing. The unit didn't worked at all and I start to believe that it's impossible that this one being also defective or that is a very bad coincidence that I've tested three defective ones at the same time. I've achecked the numbers on this one and like you and the two other ones, at least two of the three numbers matched. So, I don't know what to say.

Anyway, the guy has been nice and sold me the whole unit for $15 and I swapped the top control part mechanism with mine. The joy stick bottom part mechanism on my unit was finally broken. I cleaned the internal contacts with isopropyl alcohol, reassembled the whole thing and everything is now working perfectly. Happy ending but I'm still curious to know if that module needs to be reprogrammed specifically for the V70 because all modules that I've tried were taken for S60s...

Thanks

As I recall I replaced the DDM in my 2003 V70 with one from a 2003 S60 as the S60s are much more plentiful at the wrecking yard. I’m not sure about the DDMs but when I had to replace the DIM I was told by a knowledgeable used parts seller that you can swap parts between models, like S60 to V70, but NOT between two different years.

By curiosity, I've tried an other DDM in my 2005 V70 and it works because this unit came from an other 2005 V70. You're right, it needed to be from the same year vehicle. I've misread this info in your first reply.
