Right turns cause high beams to come on S60 2005

Very suddenly, when I use my turnsignal making a right hand turn my high beams come on the duration of the turn ( while the steering will is turned to the right and goes off after the turn is completed. Left turns are complwtely normal. Any ideas?

Probably a shorted wire Vs a bad switch. The only way to determine which is to remove the plastic clamshell surrounding the steering column. There should be 2 torx screws on the bottom of the column.

The switch in the steering wheel has a problem.

Something has broken or come loose.

Have you read the 700/900 FAQ?

While your car is not a 700/900, there is a LOT of basic information in the FAQ.

DO NOT mess with the steering wheel yourself, it is dangerous.

There is a chance that you could have an air bag issue - If the cause is a piece of metal causing a short - this could set off the air bag.

I would go to my Volvo dealer and tell them that I am concerned about a possible air bag problem and would like them to check the steering wheel as soon as possible.
