Removing driver side drive axle

I could not get the driver side drive axle (CV joint assy) out of the tranny with
the pry bars shown on Youtube. I found this tool to work just great.

I did not need the shim, I just wedged the fork in from 6 O Clock and hit the end with a heavy hammer and it popped out very nicely.

I found this tool on Ebay for about $35

Removing driver side drive axle-part 2

To clarify: I wedged the fork in between the tranny and the CV joint,
lightly tapped it up. Then hit the bottom of the fork handle straight back (Not up) with a heavy hammer.

Removing driver side drive axle

That does look like a useful tool.

I've read about the troubles some folks have removing drive axles from these Volvo transmissions. I should count myself lucky to have never encountered such issues.

Thanks,
Will
