SRS mil just turned on S70

SRS = Safety Restraint System?

What is the problem?

Why this malfunction indicator lamp is on now?

Thx

    What year S70? Did you unplug the wires to the seat with the battery connected? The SRS relates to the air bags and seatbelt pretensioners. A Volvo fault scanner will be needed to determine which part of the system failed. The same scanner needs to be used to erase the code.

      Mine is a 2000.

      argh, argh, I've just had the driver bucket seat fixed because the leather was all torn up. Maybe it's that. I think that SRS light came on right after that.

      Also, I'll check out that clock spring located in the steering wheel as per Davids suggestion

      Thanx both of you

        Don't even bother to remove the steering wheel. Get the code read by someone that has Vida/Vice and have them try to erase the code. The code will also be specific and tell you if it is the seat, seatbelt or one of the airbags that is the problem.

        A typical scanner does not do SRS.

          +1
          Get the code read using Vida/Vice.

          My money is on seat removal causing the SRS code. If the battery is not disconnected prior to seat removal it will definitely throw a code.

    It could be any number of things. Check codes to narrow it down. But a common fault is the "clock spring" located in the steering wheel. It keeps the air bang connected as you steer. It becomes brittle and brakes with age. That triggers a fault code and lights SRS lamp.
