Windshield thickness question 850

Hi there,
We were thinking about changing our 1997 850 windshield, owing to scratches.
However, I've heard that windshield thickness across the auto industry has decreased, particularly since about 2000, for weight reduction/fuel efficiency/cost savings.
Does anyone know the OEM windshield thickness for the 850 series?
Are current windshields (Volvo brand or aftermarket) the same thickness as ones made in 1993-1997?
(While there must be an original thickness, I'm thinking that a thinner windshield could just use spacers, especially on the outer side, to make up the difference.)
Thanks!!!

LOL, I don't think anyone has measured the thickness of replacement glass. We do recommend NOT buying off brand glass. Use Pinkerton labeled glass - it doesn't have to have VOLVO written on it, but they are the original supplier.

Have the installer apply the goop nice and thick.
