Bought a new 850. 97, GLT, white. 850

So I finally decided to stop chasing that wild goose, and purchased a 1997 850, with approx 170K on it, from the original owners.

It has some issues (already bought the timing belt kit and the pcv kit) but it's mostly cosmetic (seats mostly). I am swapping out the seat bottoms from my 93, and the door panels.

I have 2 spots that need to be painted, the side mirror and the molding around the side rear window (the one that is A shaped).

Does that come off easily? I'll need to sand it, prime it, paint it and put a top coat on it. And I figure that will be easier than doing it on the car.

The trim on the rear window should be held in with clips, wait for a warm day? White is one of the hardest paints to match!

Keep your eyes out for a 1998 S/V70 in the pick and pulls, the seats will fit the 850 nicely. And they have better seat warmers! The seat skins on the 1990-2000 will also fit, but the SIPS are electric and will not work on the 850. Our local P&P charges $22/seat, that's $66 for the entire car.

As far as the engine: I suspect it will need new vacuum lines, the PTC cleaned out (on the air intake to the turbo), the 3 vacuum lines to the boost controller may be due. Clean out the throttle body and the idle control motor. Check the top and right side engine motor mounts.

Flush the brake fluid and the PS fluid (use Mobil1 ATF).

I was checking the hoses that go from the air filer to the (I think?) turbo, and they are super brittle. I took one of them off (the one that goes to the turbo?), and can't read the # on it. All I could see is starts with a 9.

So does anyone have the #'s of the hoses or the kit for the hoses necessary? I have some of the silicone hoses from IPD, but these look bigger than what I have.

Is this the ptc?

There are 3 lines that connect to the turbo blowoff valve: red, yellow, and black. The black line is the longest and goes to the front of the engine. IPD has a 'kit', silicone lines that a colored red, yellow, and blue or green, BUT they are a real PITA to replace.
The 18 inch line to the front of the engine is not part of the kit.

The PTC has an electrical connection. Beware, the rubber used to attach it to the intake tube can be brittle and if you break it, it is not replaceable. I would bathe it with silicone before removal, both sides, and again on installation. Note, the blowoff valve vacuum lines cannot be accessed without removal of intake air tube.

On my 1995 850, I first replaced the PCV and cleaned out the PTC. Then a week later, I replaced the blowoff vacuum lines. Then I found I had a hole in the blowoff diaphragm! I can now remove the intake blindfolded.

Thanks for the info.

Because of how difficult I like to make things, I ended up taking off the air intake hose and the PTC.

Mostly because I could NOT, for the life of me, get the damn thing back in.

So I should be able to get it back together tomorrow or sometime this week.

I got the IPD silicone kit, and replaced the red and yellow lines, and have the blue one set up.

I know the 2 lines that go to the PTC, they come from the PCV system/kit that I got from IPD...but there is a 3rd nipple on the air intake.

Where does this red line go?

Does it lead to this?

Part of my confusion stems from the fact that the PCV system was 'fixed' by the previous owner by just adding a new hose to the manifold and feeding it to the PTC.

That arrow points to the PO "fix". It is not standard. I wonder where it goes????
