2003 XC 70 Options V70-XC70

About 6 months ago I took over driving my wife's 2003 XC 70 (got her a new Volvo).
The car only has about 135K miles, uses no oil and has no performance issues.
The only work I have done is replace the rear springs and shocks(since I have been driving the car).
The front struts/shocks and possibly the springs should be repaced. I
I have been quoted $1200 to 1500 depending on if the springs need to be replaced. I do not mind this expense if it seems reasonable To expect another 40-50K miles out of the car.

My Question: What is the history of the turbo in this vintage volvo??
I have driven several Volvo's over 200K all were non-turbo models.
Thx.

The turbos last a good long time. Don't worry about it.

I am surprised that the rear springs were replaced, was the car sagging?

The front shocks do need replacing at this mileage, along with the rubber parts. I would be hesitant to replace the springs. Mechanics always over charge when it comes to brakes and struts/shocks. I wonder why?

Keeping it running is better than buying new

Thanks for the feedback..... I will keep the 2003 running.

The rear springs were badly pitted and rusted, when it was called to my attention, while getting the rear shocks replaced. I threw the question of the front springs into the mix, because I had the drivers side spring break on my 2004, V70 at 150K. I will inspect the springs before going forward with the work.

Thank for the responses on the Turbo....

If you decide to replace both struts and springs you can buy pre-assembled strut/spring packages from some of the parts houses like FCP. Saves you the work and paranoia of using a spring compressor. Not sure what brands are available if you go that route.

I have a 2007 xc70 turbo with 252,000 miles. I have had no trouble at all with the turbo (I hope this does not jinx me). Biggest problems were putting in a rebuilt drive shaft and a ball joint.
