Brake fluid replacement S70

Hello y'all,

We have two 1998 S70's and I don't recall ever replacing the brake fluid since we bought them 20 yrs ago. Is it really needed?

Yes, a quart of DOT4 should do you nicely. Search Youtube for a pictorial on how to. Every 5 years minimum.

Have you replaced any of your brake calipers, hoses or master cylinders yet? If so, the fluid was at least partially replaced. It is good maintenance practice to periodically flush out the old fluid and replace it. The rationale is that it should help your brake performance as well as help your brake components last longer. In my experience, calipers in particular.

For example, I never flushed the brake fluid on my old 240 and I ended up replacing the rear calipers twice and the master cylinder too. When I bought my 95 850 I started flushing the fluid and had fewer brake repairs.
