V70 sitting for 6 weeks wont start V70-XC70

Well My wife inherited her mothers Toyota Camry and we took the V70 off the road for 6 weeks. I went to start it & tried jumping also, its cranking but seem something isn't getting to crank over all the way. Sounds like might be lack of gas. could one of the filters got clogged. what sequence should i attempt.
thanks for helping

Did you happen to run the car for any very short periods without warming it up?

You do not mention the year of your car.

850s with 5 cylinder engines were known for what is called - lawn mower syndrome - you move the car to get the lawn mower out, and later it refuses to start. A search will yield some posts.

If you tow it to a dealer, they will crank the engine with the gas pedal on the floor - crank it a bit longer than you normally do, rest and crank again - do not let the pedal off the floor. Soon it will sputter, and eventually start. The car may actually crank faster than normal.

They will then change your plugs and oil because of fouling and diluted oil.

After it happened to us, we never started one of our 850s unless we let it warm up fully.

My theory - when you run the car for a short period, the first things to heat up are your exhaust valves, and they stick in their guides - not enough compression to start the next time.

Nothing to do with exhaust valves. Initial cold start requires a very rich, long injection period. Turning the engine off without building oil pressure and oil being splashed on the rings allows the extra gasoline during cold start to 'wash' the rings of oil. Rings without oil cause the compression to lower dramatically, to the point that the cylinders will not fire, pushing more gasoline through the rings.

Flooring the accelerator pedal during start, tells the ECU/ECM to turn off the injectors - a hold over from the carburetor days when flooding was common. The long crank time will eventually build oil pressure and oil will be splashed on to the rings and compression will rise and the engine will start, when the gas pedal is released.

Klaus' explanation is most likely correct, as this can happen to old engines.

Do you have a trickle charger? The new computerized cars don't like a low charge.

Also, the gas line may be empty. Try turning the key to position II, several times while you listen to the fuel pump charge the system, then turn the key to posIII and attempt to start.
