Headliner replacement/Car story sharing time (93 850) 850

I have decided to replace my headliner of my 93 850. It, like most of the headliners with sunroofs, is drooping in the back.

I had almost bought some fabric from a website (probably was suggested on here during a previous attempt at finding out info re: headliner). but it ended up being like 145 dollars.

Instead I found fabric from an XC90, for 50 bucks instead. The color won't be a 100% match, but I'm not worried about that.

Also, a week ago yesterday, some nozzle backed into my 850 and dented the drivers side fender and the door. It was so bad that I couldn't open it. I was resourceful and bent the fender enough so that now I can open the door.

Because there was NO information left on my car, I had to file it as an uninsured driver accident. 300 dollar deductible, take it to a shop, etc.

The worst thing is, the shop said it would be *at least* 1000 to fix. I said "no thanks!" and went home. He told me that he'd contact my insurance agent and I had nothing more to do.

Fast forward a week, and my insurance is telling me they never heard from the shop. So they called him and the appraiser told him that my car was basically deemed a "total loss".

That sucks. So I withdrew my claim and i'm going to see about taking it to another (non insurance approved) shop.

If I can get some $$ out of the deal and keep the title clean I will.

I'm equally frustrated that no one left their info AND that I know how much a fender costs and the time it takes to remove a fender (yes i know there are hidden fees). Imho, the car isn't a "total loss" even if I had it fixed.

This is why I splurged and bought the headliner fabric. Kind of my way saying "oh yeah? Total this, jerkface!"

You can look for a 'new' door at a pick&pull, any year 850 with the same color. The rear fender can be repaired, ask at local Mom&Pop body shops.

The headliner is a bear of a job, good luck!!

I replaced the passenger side fender back in 2014, so I know it's doable.

I have the teal/turquoise color, so it's not the most common.

And currently there are 2 850's in the Portland junkyard area (at least, pick n pull).

        It's rigged against nice maintained 850s 850

850's seem to sell for peanuts. If your car is uber maintained (like regular brake fluid flushes, oil changes, coolant changes, NEW TIMING BELT and rollers, NEW TIRES!!) it doesn't even add a nickle to the cars value as far as the insurance adjusters are concerned.

SO a well maintained 850 is just a heartache waiting to happen. Loose a hubcap or get a nick in the bumper and the insurance company is ready to total it.
