V70 T5 V70-XC70 2005

Hi All. I keep hearing from people who have done work on my car that they have never seen one like this. Can anyone confirm that they have a 2005 V70 T5 with a manual 6 speed transmission and Four-C suspension control system? It is indeed a wonderful car with the most comfortable seats in the industry and a suspension that is smooth and solid at the same time. Does anyone else own one like this? I wish Volvo was still making them.

It is getting harder and harder to find car with a clutch. New cars come with double clutched auto trannies allowing the owner to use the automatic or shift gears without a clutch pedal. The shifts are faster than the old manual method and have fewer moving parts - no clutch pedal, no hydraulics, no slave cylinder, etc. It just takes time to get used to it.

The Four C air ride is an option on the Volvos. The first owner probably ordered it for Sweden pickup, the clutch was not on the list of options in the USA for 2005.

I liked my 5 speed 850, except I would forget to shift into 5th on the highway. It was really smooth.

Thanks for the responses. This car spent most of its life in Quebec and I picked it up just four years ago. The Four-C system is only two stage, not three stage. I think the three stage system is standard on the R model. I had to replace one of the shocks this moth and it was really expense with no after market availability but I love the ride of the car so much and it has caused me so few problems that I indulged in the $1,100 CAD shock from Volvo. I plan to keep running as long I can. I don't see anything that Volvo makes today that I would trade for.

You might try a Swedish web site as European cars are much more likely to have manual transmissions.

Kelly blue book lists a 2005 Volvo T5R model with a 6 speed transmission - some R model cars have had their Rs stolen.

A dealer can run your VIN number to tell if it is an R model or what model it is.

I think that you can buy a replacement R from IPD. I think that this is because of thefts.

I owned a '96 855R for 11 years, and smiled every time I drove it, sometimes I sang!

BTW - your car might be quite valuable.

Sounds like an R, but 'R's' would be everywhere. I just joined a facebook group that looks to be very active with info. Maybe a FB group...
