All Interior Courtesy Lights Suddenly Not Working - Fuse #3 Is Fine 850 1993

Hello again lads.

A couple days ago all of my interior lights stopped working, including the red lights on the sides of the front doors.

Just checked the #3 fuse and its fine. Checked it for continuity.

About a month ago, I replaced the overhead dome map light assembly as the original was falling apart. The new one was working perfectly. Maybe I'll take it down and look around...

Now, I just made what may be a fortunate discovery. The red courtesy light on the side of the drivers front door has been sorta hanging loosely (but working) for years. I thought I'd fiddle with it for a couple seconds but the entire fixture came out with no wires attached. They had rusted completely off the plug.

So my question is: Does this unconnected light fixture defeat the entire Interior Courtesy Lights circuit?

If not, then where might I look to troubleshoot the issue?

Thanks!

Did you lose central locking too?

You must repair those wires in the door they may have popped the fuse
either F3 or F15 (there's 2 fuses for courtesy lights)

Thanks guys, for replying. I received notice of your responses just now, almost a month later.

I fished the broken wires out of the door and re-soldered them to the plug.

Replaced the blown #15 fuse, so all is well.

Thanks!

There is a relay up under the dash for those lights.

An unconnected light should not kill all the others - if that were the case, a bulb failure would do the same - a real bugger to find the bad bulb.

Have you tried all the switches that would turn these lights on?

Do any of them work?

I was told by an old Volvo mechanic (He did not call himself a technician) that Volvo's switches were a weak link in some of their systems.
