Click from rear - parking brake shoes? V70-XC70 2007

I have an annoying click from the rear when going over bumps. I saw Klaus' recent message about rear parking brake shoes, and think that might be it. I did notice that tightening up the parking brake cable made the noise less noticeable. What is the fix? Simply new shoes or something more?

Thanks!
Steve

Until you relax the parking brake cable and pull a rotor, you cannot know. It might even be a pebble! Or a loose brake pad.

Thanks. Once I have the rotor off, how do I identify a loose brake pad?

With the wheel off, I just hit the caliper with a rubber hammer. Or you could just use a screwdriver and try to wiggle the brake pad.

That happened to me, but it was one of the front brakes. It rattled over sharp bumps, but not if the brakes were lightly applied.

I must throw my 2 cents in.

Upon backing up I heard something resembling the plucking of a harp's longest string...only shortened in duration.
          You could hear the resonance.

The lining was 65% off the 4 parking brake shoes. Nothing uniform. A postage stamp sized pierce affixed here and there.
There was more dust than I've ever seen before. I was lucky in that the friction material was ground away and did not jam between moving and stationary parts.

I hope the OP has inspected BOTH SIDES. No other thing to do.

When I pulled my rotors the eBrake shoes fell out, you never know whatcha find in there til you find it.
Lubricate the slider bolts on the calipers.
        Check pads for uneven wear,
that can be caused by sticky caliper (lube sliders again).
        Check rear drop link ends.
