Little magnet -> Where does it belong to? V70-XC70 2005

Hi,

I am working on my XC 70 AWD to change the wheel hub and control arm bushings, a small magnet must have fallen while I was removing some of the components but I have no idea where this little magnet belongs to. It is possible that it is something totally unrelated, but still I have no idea where this is coming from.
I also removed the wheel speed sensor.

Have you ever seen it in that working area? Please see pictures below:

Many thanks!

Can you give us the measurements?

Except for the speed sensor, I cannot think of anything that requires a magnet.

      Sure,

      Diameter is: 5/16 or 8mm
      Thickness: 1/8 or 3mm

I was also thinking at the speed sensor as the only part that little thing belongs to but I cannot figure out where could actually be located.

Spin the wheel hub, read the output voltage of the ABS sensor.
Voltage should increase and decrease with wheel speed, I think its AC volts?
If its dud then the magnet probably belongs there.

          Hi,

The ABS sensor is a single unit that is on its own location, so we know that the magnet cannot be part of it.

I really do not see where a magnet could stay as a stand alone part on the wheel hub.

I had also to disassemble the steering knuckle on the left side, I have not seen any magnet so I think indeed that magnet belongs elsewhere.

Once I am done with everything, I will put on VIDA and see if I get any error.

          Alex

If you didn't mangle the speed sensor, then I would say the magnet came from some place other than this car.
