the car now has 167K miles on it.
It has been an excellent upgrade for me.
But now some things are starting to happen.

1. when we have wet weather all of a sudden now I have water coming in from the firewall foot area on the passenger side of the car. Not sure what is causing this to happen?

2. Passenger side door mirror assembly unit. The mirror and heat work, but when I put the blinker on the raking a right turn the light in this assembly does not blink. I checked the bulb out and it works as I tested it on the driver side. What is happening here?

3. Now that we are into the springtime heading into summer time a/c would be nice.
This control system has always been set to automatic control. I noticed that the cars exterior fan comes on almost immediately after I start the car up. At the same time I also noticed that I have no Cool Air for A/C now. What do I need to do here?

4. Also noticed that the headlight washer system has never worked on the car either. What should I be looking at?

#1. This is a toughie! My first thought would be the sunroof drains clogging up, but that is easy to check out. Then I came across this one:

Check the small trim piece under the right hand corner of windshield. Seems they tend to dry out and let water in. The last post, #10, explains it in detail.

For #2, it sounds like a wiring issue. Except that I don't know where the wires travel, unless it is under the 'wet' part of the dash and is getting shorted out.

#4. That is a blessing in my book. All the headlight washer manages to do is use up a lot of washer fluid and remove the wax above the headlights. It is only supposed to work when the wipers are 'on', not in the intermittent position.

#1 - looked at the two pieces. They are definitely the originals to the car. Extremely soft and flexable. So, I'm thinking I should just go ahead and replace both lower corner pieces along with the clips as well.

The wiring harness for the mirror runs through a hole in the door to a power connection up near the top of the door inside panel. If power works and the heat works one would think that the light should work as well. hmm.

Headlight washers engage when the headlights are "on" and you wash the windshield. You may have to hold the wash stalk if there is no fluid in the lines.

At least on my 2007 V70, the washer reservoir needs to be about half full (or more) to for the headlight washers to come on when you pull the stalk. The reservoir has a sensor to reserve fluid for the windshield if the level is low. So when the level is low, the headlight washers don't turn on with the windshield washer. Fancy.

My wife's 2000 Audi A4 would turn on a warning light along with a loud BeeeeeeeP when the level went below the headlight washer pump. Annoying to say the least.

#3 for me was low freon.

If you were low on Freon in the system. Would that not mean that there was or is a leak in the system? If so, how to test out the system? What tools do I need to acquire for this? Is there a die of some sort that can be added to system? If so, where and how?

A long time ago, I bought a hose kit for the AC. It came with a detachable gauge. This allows me to use the 12oz cans. The pressure gauge should only be used with the engine running and the AC switched on.

Yes, autoparts stores sell 12oz cans with yellow dye. Your system will easily take 2 cans, but no more than that. The running pressure should not be much over 45psi with the compressor turning.

Don't know but going to find out. There is R134a that has dye in it. You may need a black light to see it. Get a can of freon with a gauge in the hose. You can check the lowside pressure and add some if needed. Low pressure port on our '04 V70 is under the power steering reservoir. Zero psi might suck up 2 cans. It will take a while but don't add too much.

Well, I bought a 20 oz can of freeon with a stop leak added in. When I connected to the low side I had a 0 psi for a reading. Turned the ac system on and the recycle button in the car and the system sucked down the 20 oz can in less than 10 minutes and the psi on the system stayed at 35 psi running. now I have a cool a/c system now.
