Tires and 4W alignment C70 2007

Well my lovely daughter blasted a pothole in her C70 while avoiding a driver yesterday, and killed the tire. Not only that, but she drove on the flat for a few miles until it separated from the rim. "It felt kind of wobbly."

The previous owner had mounted the proper 235/40R18s on the front and 235/45R18 on the rear. The rears aren't down to the wear bars yet and unfortunately, the fronts were the better set.

So, do I replace all four with the proper size or can I do both fronts, proper size, and hold off on the rears for a few months. Will half-worn rears prevent the car from being properly aligned?

I know, I should just do all four but there are several other financial obligations at this time.

Fortunately, this C70 came with a spare, jack, etc.

Thanks,

Erwin

You are fine with just doing the front tires. Alignment for the front wheels should be checked by a good shop, but not mandatory if it appears that the car goes straight without holding on to the steering wheel.
