radiator hoses S70 1998

what is the lifespan of OEM hoses?...replaced original set at first t-belt service, approx. 69k, car now has 124k...69k service in 2009...should I blow the budget, and replace the 2 reservoir hoses, as well as heater hoses?...do a fair amount of long distance trips in the summer...no issues, just pre-planning..

thanks in advance to all those more knowledgeable...

Tom

OE hoses do last a very long time. I always suggest replacing the large hoses when the radiator starts to leak. The two small lines from the overflow bottle are easily changed out, and also easily checked for cracking/age. The heater hoses are a pain to change, but should be replaced with the large hoses.

And I am talking about 200K+ miles and OE hoses. Those supplied by URO, buyer beware.

What is the manual action required to remove the heater hose fittings on the firewall?

Are they bayonet or 1/4 turn or what?

Easy to take out by hand. Push on the hose a little, grab the plastic clamp at 3 and 9 o'clock, squeeze, and pull it out. No tools.

I'm the original owner with 210,000 miles on an 850 N/A and still on all original hoses. Going strong with no leaks so far. Originals seem to wear like iron, if that helps.

I concur, the OEM hoses last almost forever!

My 95 850 has about 251k. All original hoses except for the bottom radiator hose and one reservoir hose (which turns out didn't replacing). All still look good. During my ownership, I replaced one radiator hose on my 1990 240 in 300K! Apparently, Volvo OEM hoses are great on all the older Volvos...

My one recommendation would be to consider replacing your heater hoses and take a thorough look at your reservoir tank. I would do the same, but since my car is no longer my DD and I'm not sure how long I will keep it, I am not spending the money on those hoses unless they really need it.
