CD player seems to be failing 850 1996

On good advice here, I got one of those head-cleaning CDs for the factory CD player in my '96 850. But I'm having to run it every month or two, after maybe five-six hours of CD playing. I'm thinking the unit's failing.

There's a "changer" button on the radio/tape/CD player. Would it be more cost effective to get an aftermarket CD changer, or find someone who'll put a new CD unit in the factory CD player?

I put a remote changer in the trunk of my 1993 850GLT. That was back when you only got a cassette in dash. The radio did have the button for a changer and is prewired for a remote changer in the trunk. I bought an new Alpine CHMS630(six disc)for $230 + $35 labor installed at the local stereo shop. They plugged into a prewired line that is located next to power antenna, which is covered by trunk liner. Changer mount hangs from under rear deck in the trunk. Be careful not to drill through your alarm wiring to the trunk. Alarm will be shorted out. Very easy to do and works great
