Still have water leak - not sunroof drains - anyone know about cowl drains? V70-XC70 2008

We had the worst drought in history, only 3 good rain storms in several months.

The front of the car was flooded in each storm - like 1/2 inch of water in both front floors, damp in rear.

It is not the sunroof drains as I covered the sunroof with plastic, taped with good quality duct tape all around.

I removed the cowl cover and saw no evidence of debris or water marks. I was surprised how clean that area was.

When I left the driveway after a couple of floods, I did get a stripe of water about 20 feet long as I turned to the left.

Any ideas?

I am actually thinking of drilling a couple of holes in the floor - or going to my dealer!

Hola,

When you remove the cowl did you have a drain on the passenger side or just open to fenders side. The water needs to drain some where.
You also have a plastic boot for the cabin intake. In my car, the drain was on the passenger side and was clean on top but water will drain very slowly due to dirt build up inside the drain tube. The other problem was the plastic boot had become loose and the water was draining towards the back of the cabin or behind squirrel cage.

Check the seal around the top of the windshield. On my 1998, someone forgot to seal the top of the windshield, under the rubber, and rain came in that way. After I applied sealant, my wife no longer got dripped on!

Contrary to popular belief, duct tape is not water proof. Use clear packing tape instead - no need to use a plastic sheet. Just wax the paint before putting on the tape for easier removal.

There are two cowl drains above the firewall, I have never seen them clogged as they are 1 inch in diameter.
