Rear Sway Bar End Link installation? V70-XC70 1998

I have a 1998 V70 AWD with 196K miles on it. One of the rear sway bar end links is broken, and I am wondering if I could ask for advice on installation. I am OK with brakes, oil changes--I even installed a PNP switch--and I have a jack and jack stands.

Is this part what you are talking about?

The only hard part is removing the rusted bolts.

Rear Sway Bar End Link installation? V70-XC70 1998

Hi Klaus,

Actually, it's the piece that is not numbered in the schematic; it sticks up from the bar at either end (one of them is near the number 1 in the schematic). Not sure what it is called, but it appears to be a separate part and not integrated with the stabilizer bar. Any thoughts?

OUCH! That is a stanchion stud, and as far as I know they cannot be replaced. A junkyard may have one from a 1998-2000 XC70, but you would have to buy the entire sway bar.

I was wrong; it's the stabilizer link after all.
