fan keeps running V70-XC70 2009

Hello all

2009 v70 t6 twin fans

i should have started a new message

i left ign on overnight and ran battery flat
after battery jumped i ended up with check engine light
3 weeks later engine fan runs continually after shut down
new battery
cleared engine check light -- no codes ( foxwell nt 300 )

so no codes and fan still runs after shut down and does not turn off

any way to diagnose without dtcs

any thoughts

is the fan module still a problem on these later cars

thanks Klaus for your input

David

This could be several problems, too bad your code reader didn't work on the newer engine.

First, check the fan. There are two plugs on the fan housing: one has heavy wires and a large plug - this is the 12V. Leave it plugged in. The smaller plug is for the computer to turn the fan on/off, unplug it. If the fan continues to run, the fan module may be toast.

Does the fan start running when you first start the engine? The AC may have a low charge. The MAF may need cleaning. The ECT sensor could be at fault.

If the fan stays off until you turn the engine off, try turning the AC off.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
