Dashboard went dark! V70-XC70

I was on the way home tonight and, suddenly, the dashboard went dark. All lights, (except for station indicator on radio and warning lights on dashboard (ABS, Check engine, service)) went out, but functions worked (I could turn on the radio, climate system, etc.). It's a '98 V70 base with 218K miles on it. Any thoughts (besides "Don't drive at night")?

    Check fuse #35 Instrument lighting, accessories, power sun roof 10 Amp. as well as the rheostat.

    Keeping it running is better than buying new
