just had an oil change at a shop , and after that check engine light is on , mechanic ran code reader , nothing came up , disconected battery check engine light still on, any help out there?? car seems to run fine

    Were any other service items done under the hood (air filter, fluid checks, etc.?). I am wondering if something got disconnected inadvertently...

    I would try another code reader or take it to a parts store for a scan.

    Read the codes from your OBD port under the hood, see if that's better than
    the code reader.

      so got 543 454 misfires codes but was able to clear the CEL , they tested battery , lights , fluids , air filter etc so go figure , before clearing codes checked the air filter connections and some were questionable so i tighten them up and it did the trick so far, so nice to have that OBD tester under the hood!!

        Behind the passenger side headlight. If you are familiar with the RWD Volvo cars ODB-1, the 850's OBD-1 works the same way except it has sections for engine, tranny and ABS codes. Do a search here or better yet at www.matthewsvolvosite.com for instructions.
