One of my trade newspapers has featured a column by "The Masked Engineer" for about 30 years. He's never tipped his hat other than to cover his face in his pic. Supposedly a well-known industry (Broadcast) engineer who remains anonymous.

Perhaps we have our own "masked engineer" right here at BB.
