Key Fob dead (850 93) 850

Someone was tossing my keys to me, and under threw them, and they landed on the pavement. Now it doesn't work at all.

The battery is fine. I opened it up and cleaned it out and checked it out (from what I can comprehend) and it didn't make a difference.

So I tried re-setting it (tho since mine is a 93, it wouldn't surprise me if the process is different for that car than it is for any other year of 850), but to no avail.

Does anyone know if the 93 850's have a unique way to reset it?

Also, I don't know if my alarm is working now (It's too bright to see the light flashing).

I took the glove box out of my car, and got the #'s off of the Alarm receiver (?) thing, based off of this video from Robert DIY

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZdbbynDgSY

    My "fcc" # is CWT5654R

that doesn't match either of my fobs, including the one that worked.

The original FOB has a ID # of CWT5653T

Not sure if that matters or not.

The new FOB has a # of: CWTTFWB1G

Does anyone know if that matters?

The remote that I have does match the numbers that you need!

The FCC ID is key. The newer remote is for a 1995-6?

You need a remote that has the same starting numbers as the old remote.
The "R" is receiver and the "T" is transmitter.

But if the dash LED doesn't blink rapidly after 5 turns of the key... you may be out of luck.

called a local Volvo dealer around here and he said to do what I've been doing, but slower..so I try it slower and it still doesn't work.

And now my alarm doesn't seem to be turning on.

Sometimes it's a tragedy of errors with this car....heheh

Either the circuit board cracked or a diode came loose. You will need a magnifying glass to find out, along with a diode test kit. It might be one of the contacts from the battery (heaviest part) broke its solder.

The procedure is the same for resetting the code, but you don't need to do that unless you find a new remote.

I did some more digging, and from what I seem to be understanding, it might not be possible to manually reset the 93 key fobs?

I have a basic alarm, and while it's possible I misunderstood things, the instructions are unavailable for that one.

I'm going to check the receiver in the glove box today to see if the #'s match. I'll re-post when I come up with new info.

I have a fob from a 93 that I used to own. You can have it if you like.

The fob was working when I sold the car and forgot to give to the new owner.

sounds cool. Let me see if I can figure out how to do a reprogram and I'll probably take you up on that offer.

          Thanks!

So I bought a new (to me) remote, and I'm having a friend look at my old one. So far, the process to re-set it hasn't worked.

      Here's what I've done.

I close the door and lock them.

Turn key to the ON position and back off, 5 times, ending with it on the ON position.

I push both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, to no avail.

I try pushing just 1 or the other, same result.

I try it doing the on off rotation 5 times, and then a 6th time.

      The battery reads full charge.

I cleaned the insides of the new fob too.
