An oil thread C70 2007

It's hitting the high 90s here in Memphis and my C70 manual says to go to 0W40 or 5W40. I don't need the cold weather protection of the zero weight so 5W40 it is.

Volvo recommends Castrol. Whether by formulation or corporate agreement, I don't know. Yes, I'm that suspicious.

I've used Valvoline petroleum based oils in everything, including all my previous Volvo turbos, for years. I did make the Castrol switch for my wife's V70 but what about Liquid Moly? It's a German oil and available in 5W40. Volvo requires oil to meet or exceed GF-3, API SL, and ACEA A1/B1. Liquid Moly synthetic meets ACEA A3/B4 and API SN/CF.

Since the 5W40 is difficult to find locally I'm going through Amazon where there are several options.

Opinions?

Sorry for the Oil Thread!

Erwin

I don't care which brand of oil is being used, what is important:
"Volvo requires oil to meet or exceed GF-3, API SL, and ACEA A1/B1. Liquid Moly synthetic meets ACEA A3/B4 and API SN/CF."

Liquid Moly meets and exceeds those specs, and will easily last for 7500-10,000 miles between changes.

I get my oil at Walmart in the 5 gallon jugs:

The zero weight oil will do just fine in your climate.
