Wiper issues S40-V40 2006

I have a 2006 s 40 that developed a windshield wiper problem. A local import repair shop diagnosed it as a reprogram computer problem and said only The Volvo dealer could resolve it. Took it to them and they said it needed a new computer module. they charged me $1566. 3 miles away from the dealership the wiper came on automatically. This morning, no wipers at all. Leaving work, they once again came on automatically. What the hell is going on with them?

You might call Volvo of North America and tell your tale. I had luck on a new exhaust system that did not fit.

Did the dealer take the old parts for a core charge?

See if VNA can get the old part.

Take it back, Volvo replacement parts are now warrantied for life.

Tell them you want new parts and free labor, and a loaner until they repair your car.

For $1566 that is the least you deserve!

Thanks for responding James. I don't really trust this dealership to be honest with me or to be able to repair my car. For that reason I went to my credit union and stopped payment on my check. If only a Volvo dealership can fix it then I may need to take it out of town. However, since it does the same stuff after another CEM it may be something like a faulty ground wire, a short, a switch or who knows what. I know it doesn't have aftermarket HID headlights. anyhow, it sure doesn't seem like it would be so complicated to make windshield wipers work properly.
