2000 V70 rear side door seal replacement 2000

I need to replace the rear side door seal on my 2000 V70-- it ripped because of a poorly fitting set of roof load bars (S70 bars don't fit V70s). I grabbed a seal the last time I was at the local pick-and-pull, but while removing it virtually every clip broke.

Is there a trick to getting these clips out? I also picked up Euro roof rails at the pick-and-pull, and as soon as I can find the right load bars for a decent price I will install them, then replace the seal.

User error. The same roof load bars are used from 1993-2000 for both the sedans and wagons. They are designed to be installed only when needed and removed when not in use. If you leave them on the car for extended lengths of time, the seal will be compromised.

Getting roof rails from a 98-00 is a much better option. The load bars for the rails are not cheap and hard to find. There are after market bars that may be cheaper. Again, only keep the bars on the roof when they are being used - think mpg, salt, etc.

The plastic clips holding the seal to the door get old and brittle. You need a lot of patience to remove them intact. Perhaps using 2 screw drivers on each side, up against the plastic post, to pry up the post rather than the wings??? Or a regular set of pliers to grab the center post area and pull straight up?

Those buggers cost a small fortune.
