I've recently noticed that my radio seems to stop playing music on my thumb drive, for usually a second or two, and then continue on.

It does this when I'm mostly at idle.

I changed the radio to one I knew was 100% fine, and it has repeated the symptoms.

Does this sound like an alternator issue? I haven't had time to check the battery or connections (the battery is new enough it shouldn't be an issue).

    They didn't have thumb drives in 1993, just tape players!

    It could be a download problem. How big is the hard drive Vs the thumb drive?

      16 gb.

      I don't think it's the file, it's not a repeatable act.

      I can play a song all the way through and it doesn't happen, then if I repeat it it randomly will do it. If I "rewind" the song a bit, it won't repeat the pausing.

      And it rarely happens if I'm going fast.

        Listening to Top Gun is fun, but when you go over 100mph, you should turn the radio off.

        The 16G thumb drive might stretch the limits of the radio. Or the connection could be too slow. I usually blame the cable company when my computer is 'waiting' for the buffer to fill, but in reality it is probably just my ancient computer and its lack of memory.
