I have a 2001 S60 2.4T that did not come equipped with the factory fog lights. I was wondering if anyone had a T-5 with them and if they are worth the money to add them. My dealer wants $305 to install them. Thanks for the info

The fog lights work well, lighting the sides of the road. I'd get them
just to make the front look better.

How much is the fog light kit? And why does installing foglights require a software upgrade?

The kit was reasonably priced, though I don't recall the actual amount. But it appears there's a processor that controls switching, and my friend had to pay the dealer $60 for the software patch.

(I'm wondering how a processor improves the switching function. Seems more like another expensive part that can go wrong...and since I prefer my foglights to work independently of any other switches, I'd bypass this system anyway. Wonder if "n0v8or" has a wiring diagram for this?)

In the US/CAN, stock Volvo foglight wiring only permits the foglights to operate when the headlights are on. Since I'm using expensive lamps in my headlights, I rewired the foglights so I can use them as DRL's....with the headlights off.

When I bought up my 2.4T I asked the dealer to install the fogs since i think the front looks much better with them. i wasn't aware of a software update but the whole thing cost $300.

I love the look of the car with the fogs and the 17" tethys wheels.

A friend of mine bought the kit from his dealer and installed them himself. He had to go back to the dealer for the "software upgrade" required to make them work. The whole thing cost him half what your dealer's quoting you.

I just traveled thru OH,WV,KY,TN alot of off interstate driving. They are a good option to have. You will see a little better in the fog and bad weather. But whats more important others will notice you at a further distance.
