Best (quietest) Brake Pads for 1993 850 850 1993

Hello again lads.

Its time for new brake pads, and I'm having as hard time deciding what to get. Looking to save a few bucks if possible... I don't mind a little brake dust, but cannot stand any squealing.

Any ideas on what and where to purchase?

Thanks!

In more than 12 years reading this board, I have read hundreds of posts complaining about noisy or poor performing brakes.

The only complaint about Volvo pads is dust.

We have driven 4 740s, 3 850s, and 2 XC70s over 550K miles and never noisy brakes.

Once, on a 745, I changed the brakes on a used car because Midas did them and their noise used to scare everyone in my neighborhood.

Please go with Volvo pads, grease, and shims where needed.

Brake pads are cheap, even OEM. Get a tube of silicone brake grease and lube the metal to metal parts on the pads as well as the exposed caliper piston.

OEM don't make much noise, if any.

I put Blue Box Volvo pads on my S70 in 2003 along with new Brembo (I thought were OEM at the time) rotors. They have not made one peep since. Not even once. I collect enough dust on the wheels to keep Al Jolson in blackface till the 29th century. But they are bar none, the quietest brakes I've ever had on a vehicle. Since you can't exceed 100% quiet, they literally can't get quieter that this.

That said, I'm so sick of the dust, I'm putting Akebono Euro on the S70 next and already did a 4 wheel brake job with them, along with Zimmerman Z-coat rotors, on my wife's 2009 Jetta. No noise OR dust. So far so good.

Stay away from Akebono! They have no dust but they dont stop your car either! Worse brake pads I have ever owned!
