V50 Book time for maintenance message V50 2008

2008 V50. Message "book time for maintenance" is on at start. How to reset?

I tried methods I found on the interwebs - turn key to KP II while holding down trip odo button - I get a beep, and the message is replaced by "300", then "006."

Turn off, turn key to any position, "book time ..." message returns.

Any thoughts?

Step 1. Turn key to position 1

Step 2. Press and hold the trip 1 reset button. Wait for the odometer to set to zero.

Step 3. With the trip reset button still pressed, turn the key to position 2.

Step 4. Keep the trip reset button pressed until the yellow [i] light start blinking. When this happen you should release it immediately.

And that’s it, the service warning message in your Volvo should be off.

Tried that - didn't work. After holding the trip reset button in step 4 for about 15 seconds, the big yellow I went out, the panel beeped, and the message center displayed "300" for a few seconds then "006." Next time I turned the key to any position, the "book time for maintenance" displayed again.

I tried holding down the trip reset button for a longer period - after it beeped and displayed "300" - but still no joy.

      Thanks for the effort.
