Sun Visor broke... S70 1998

All,

My wife's driver side sun visor will not stay up.

Is there any way to fix this, if so, how. Not to mention, how do I disconnect it from the electrical wire that it attaches to?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I was at a P&P today and looked at a 1999. The A pillar cover was already off. Guess what? It had a plug for the visor wires in the bottom of the A pillar!!

Pish posh, you guys are talkin' about doin' it the easy way. That is one way to go. ;)

If you have a decent set of terminal crimpers, you could painstakingly ID the proper wire terminals, get some wire and just make your own custom length with the terminals stuffed into the original connector.

Seriously though, I wouldn't want to have to go to the junkyard every time I was faced with cutting wires.

There is no fix. If there is a junk yard close by, get one from a 1998-2000 S/V70. Pull the "A" pillar cover off to expose a lot of wiring and cut the wires long on the donor. Unplugging the wire under the dash doesn't do any good unless you pull the dash out - the plug does not fit between the dash and side of the car. Darn.

On your car remove the visor and cut the wire short to the visor. Then crimp the new visor wires to the old ones, stuffing the excess in the hole.

The 850 visors don't work as well for some design change.
