fuel rich issues 850

So, after the FPR replacement the car started stalling again and having no start issues. The fuel pump and the fuel pump relay were replaced, but intermittent stalling continued. The on-board diagnostic system is not responding.
We serviced the PCV system and replaced all vacuum lines.
Spark is still confirmed.
The problem remains that the engine is intermittently receiving too much fuel, sometimes at startup and sometimes while driving. Removing the fuel pump fuse and cranking until excess fuel burns off, replacing the fuse, then cranking again will start the car.

I'm not understanding why the engine is receiving too much fuel still. Does something need to be adjusted to send less fuel to the engine?

What do the plugs look like? Did you check the gaps?
You confirmed spark at EACH plug?
You might inspect the rotor cap.
How old are the wires? Don't dismiss "spark" so fast.

Maybe there's a problem with the injectors?

Wouldn't hurt to check compression.

Any codes?

Just some stray thoughts, Bill

I just saw your older post. The FP regulator was replaced.

Is your temperature gauge reading low after 1 mile of driving? A bad thermostat can cause a cool engine and a cool engine has increased fuel flow.

A high rpm, 1500, means that there is a lot of air getting into the intake that is not metered and is not compensated for by the engine computer.

Get the codes read.

Is the check engine light on? If so, take it to any autoparts store and get the codes read for free. The OBDII port is under the coin tray.

Running rich is 'usually' the result of a vacuum leak or unmetered air getting into the intake manifold. It could also be a faulty fuel pressure relay under the injector cover - note the vacuum line that is routed from there to the vacuum tree at the throttle body - if that line smells of gasoline, that could be your problem.

My 1995 has had a dirty EVAP purge valve that was sticking in the open position, so that at idle it was running rich, pulling in gasoline fumes from the charcoal cannister when it is not supposed to.

I have operated the OBD system before and pulled the codes. When I tried again recently it was not functioning, but I will take the car somewhere to see if they can get it to work.
I could totally see that the EVAP valve might need some cleaning and I will figure out its location and check it.
