front end shimmy 850 1997

front end shimmies when driving, cv's are new, struts are new, could the wheels not be balanced or is there a different problem that needs attention?

Another possibility is a bent rim.
It's happened to me on more than one occasion.

FWIW, I've yet to align a car after a strut replacement. Not saying it is NEVER required, just that I haven't had an issue.

I have replaced my struts a couple times with no alignment and no shimmy resulted. But......the one time I did have problems was basically an "everything else" situation where the tires, tie rods, ball joints, and bushings (control arms on the 97 have new bushings and ball joints) were worn.

Installation of new struts requires a front end alignment, so that should be OK. It is easy enough to check the balance by rotating the tires front/rear and test driving it. Usually, a wheel out of balance will cause vibrations to get worse with increasing speed - look for a missing lead balancer on the outside of the rims. That happened to me once.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
