motor mount life ? V70-XC70 2004

What kind of service life have you been getting from your motor mounts ?

Mary's car has a buzz at about 2000 rpm and it looks like the top motor mount is moving around and the lower front might not be doing much either. I have never replaced the lower mount, but the upper was replaced 7 years / 125,000 miles ago with the later square section (IIRC) unit. The original lasted 75,000 miles.

According to the service records that came with our 2005, the "engine mounts" were replaced by the dealer at 77K. I don't know how many that included, but the lower transmission torque mount looks a bit squishy, though as far as I can tell, the others are okay.

Front, lower mount was 150K miles on my 1998. The upper mount usually is good for 100K, but that depends on driving habits and tranny hard shifts.

It all happened after we took a road trip up north and I filled the tank with premium a couple times. Mary seems to dip into the load pedal a little more vigorously than before. Even the grandkids noticed... She keeps buying premium so I would say that driving habits have changed recently.

Keep that 5 cyl running! The new XC70s have a 6 with a lot more torque. Mary is obviously driving the car the way it was meant to be driven, keep your seat belt tight...

BTW, premium doesn't make it go faster 0-60, but when the torque curve reaches optimum it will allow for more boost. Silly engine management and VVT.

And change the mounts. Easy to do and probably a wise thing to do with the additional torque.

The upper mount on my 93 854 went about 100k. I have not replaced the upper mount on my 95 855. Have owned the car for about 90k, it now has 250k. I think we can safely assume that it is not the original...:)

I just changed my 1995 upper mount to poly, 178K. I didn't realize it was broken until I revved the engine a few times watching the block move. No increase in vibration for the poly.

May not be the same mount, but I replaced the lower front mount on my 850 at a little over 200k.
