On our '85 855 base, I painted the trim beige with Rustoleum.
Do a search for 850 in brick pix and go to page 3, our teal 855 is 3 or 4 pictures down (our 855R is next)
The pix date is - Tue, Mar 14th 2006.
A couple of people asked about the beige trim, I told them it was the Eddie Bauer model.
The paint held up VERY well - none of it never came off - my daughter drove the car until 2012.
I wiped the trim down with enamel reducer, then paint thinner - I have done this on any painting that I have done and find that it is worth the time.
Since the trim is not part of the car, I masked it off by cutting inkjet paper into 3 strips lengthwise and inserted it behind the trim. I inserted paper all around the trim before I started.
After I painted each 11 inches, I pulled the paper out so there was no soak-through.
when the paint dried, the trim had its original texture.
Notice that I painted the lower grilles in the front of each car silver as well. If you expand the pictires, you can see the center grille is done as well.
Later, I painted Gayorg's wheel covers beige as well.
Add a nice bright color to your car!
