Oil Pressure V70-XC70 2001

WOW So I just changed my oil 500 miles ago and anyway I noticed the oil light coming on. Been studying So I changed the oil pressure sensor and that didn't help. So I checked the pressure with manual gauge. It's low. Like fully warmed at idle is 5 to 6 psi. and at 2k RPM 30 to 32. I thought maybe put a little 10 40w in so I let out a quart and saw that it looked really dirty compared to what I see on the dip stick. People are saying normally it's not the oil pump. Is it my engine bearings? Maybe some seal or O ring in the oil pan?

Probably O ring on the oil pick up tube. Plus a bit of sludge in the same place.

It is not fun dropping the oil pan, less to glue it back in place. The O ring kit is cheap, the glue is expensive.

If you DIY, get lots of cardboard. The oil will drip down forever with the pan removed. And, the umpteem bolts are different lengths!

My reference to 'glue' was meant to be RTV sealant. But, not the strong stuff. Too strong will make the oil pan impossible to get off again. Volvo sells the stuff at a large mark up, I am sure that you can get a substitute at a cheaper price.

There are various you tube and other write ups on the WWW.

Read this one, it is very good:
