Electronic Climate Control ECC S70 2000

The blower seems to work fine and is adjustable. But I get heat out of the
passenger side vents only. Cold air blows out of the driver side vents.
The air conditioning switch is off. The recirculation switch seem to not come
on even if engine is cold. Heat on passenger side but not the drivers side.
Is this a ECC problem? Do I need to replace it or could it be something else?
Are their separate fuses for right and left heat?

No separate fuses, just one for the ECC and one for the blower. If you put the blower and vent in the 'auto' position before you start the engine, do you get any blinking lights?

The blinking lights would indicate an error found, which could be a blend door or a sensor failure.

It is possible that the left temp control knob is no longer working. The recirc switch not working might be the blend door actuator, but you would have to pull the glove box to see that.

      Klaus,

When I turn the car on in both "auto" positions with air off and both temperatures at 72 (or any tem, there is no
blinking of circ or recirc, only outside left circ light comes on and stays on.
If I hold the recirc button down for 5 sec both lights blink and then just
the left outside flow light stays on. Maybe the left temp control is gone and/or the recirculation. Can it be fixed by just clearing the codes?

You cannot get or erase codes without a laptop and VOL/FCR code reader or VIDA/DICE 214A. The error codes are kept in the ECC unit even after all power is lost.

Correcting the problem will eliminate the code. The hassle is determining the problem...

If you opt to get a used ECC box, make sure it has the same part number.
