So how screwed am I? S70 1998

All,

Today I replaced the timing belt on my S70 and when I started it up it sounded like a diesel.

I immediately shut it off and checked the timing marks.

Both Cams were still perfect, but upon closer inspection, the crank had slipped at most 1 tooth, maybe two counter clockwise.

I fixed it and it started up and ran just fine.

Plan to change the oil tomorrow and check the compression after that.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Matt

Your 1998 doesn't have VVT, and being 1 or 2 teeth off is not a valve banger. Doesn't sound like you turned the engine 720 degrees before hitting the starter, or you didn't check the marks after the manual turn. You deserve a scare like that!!

No harm done. You should be good for another 70K miles.
