'04 V70 AWD Rear Wheel Bearing Replace V70-XC70 2004

I'm getting ready to change a rear wheel bearing on an '04 V70 AWD. The FCP video recommends using a hub puller to remove the bearing from the housing. The hub puller screw is positioned against the axle (with the help of an extension & socket to reach the axle) and an impact used to apply pressure. Is it really acceptable to apply that much pressure to the axle on this car? Wouldn't that be hard on the CV joints? Thanks.

It will not damage the CV joints. Watch some other car videos for the same routine. He only uses the impact wrench to tighten it all up, he uses a breaker bar - large wrench to apply steady pressure on the axle. Note how he carefully aligns the axle before applying pressure. The hammer on the side is what actually forces the rust in the splines to give up.

I like that he has a helper to push the assembly down to put the shock back on.

Replaced both rear bearings. Total time 3 hours. Only tapping with hammer needed to dislodge bearing from housing. Much easier than I anticipated. Didn't have to remove shock to remove lower rear bolt.

Great! When I need to replace mine, I guess I could make an appointment at your place :>) Much easier on a FWD 855!
