KNOCK SENSOR V70-XC70 2001

Hello Again.
Will an OBD code P0333 (knock Sensor) throw A CEL? (Check Engine Light) I currently show 2 codes. P0333 and P0442. I need to get the car through New Jersey inspection. I won't fix the knock sensor if it doesn't flag the CEL. I know the P0333 does.
thanks
-Keith

I am not sure how the engine management system treats a bad knock sensor, but I'll bet that is not to your advantage.

Perhaps it sees the lack of a knock indication to adjust the timing ahead, causing knocking, or perhaps it moves the timing back, reducing power and fuiel economy.

If Klaus advises seeing to it, that is what you should do!

You might be safe with the knock sensor.

The P0442 is probably a broken hose back by the fuel filter, passenger side. Very common and easily fixed. Do it before it gets really cold out!

But, you do need to worry about the knock sensor.
