I can find nothing in the owners manual about what oil to use in
a 2004 V70 rear differential. I would like to renew it. I assume there is a drain plug, etc

There is no drain plug, the suggestions of driving the car a bit to warm up the diff oil and then sucking the old oil out have merit, it makes removal of the synthetic 75W90 GL5 gear oil much easier. I believe that it will only require 1/2 quart of oil, just a bit below the fill hole.
