Keyless Remote S80

The Keyless remote system Space was no longer working. I bought a new battery but when I open the battery case a little metal piece fell out it was like a half moon shape with like a little clip on it. I called Volvo and they said that piece wasn't necessary but when put the new battery in it and tried it it didn't work. I tried to different batteries and it still didn't work. Then I called them back and they said that that piece might need to be welded back in. They weren't really sure. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to do this because they said it was going to cost me over $300 for a new one.

Thanks in advance!!!

This is a good time to post some pictures of the remote opened up and the part that you're talking about.

$300.00 Wow! Go to Ebay and see a bunch of selections that might work, or you can use for parts to get a working key.

Well...I had to leave to go to an appointment and when I came home it was gone (suspect landlord) so I can't post pics plus now I do not have one at all even to try to repair. So now my question is where is the least expensive place to find one and have it activated for my car?

This is very frustrating to say the least.

Did you look on Ebay and admire the various options?
Perhaps your old one has a simple problem that can be repaired?

You can go to an independant auto locksmith perhaps, and avoid the huge dealer markup, if all else fails.

Thank you Bill...I will have to check around for someone who may be able to repair it.
