Rear defrost messes up radio

I have found that if I have the rear defrost button engaged I get a tremedous amount of static on my radio. The service department at the dealership says this is normal. Never happened on any other car I've ever owned. Does anyone else have this problem? Has anyone found a way to fix it, other than turning off the radio?

    Totally agree with KC, they just don't want/know to fix it.

    Most of the time (in CAnada) I switch on the defrost, and listen to radio with NO static.

    Turn off the defroster.

    If you own a S/V 70, then take it to your dealer and have them check Tech-Net note 39-08 which addresses your exact complaint. It says that "in most cases, it's caused by a scratch in the grid" which is repairable.

        Sounds like you have some damage to your rear window defroster. Maybe a broken grid or something. Have the retailer check for a broken grid. Have you noticed any of the lines of the defroster not defrosting? If one does not defrost, then that is one that is broken.

    Go back to the dealer and ask for a demo of how this works on the new cars on the lot.
