What is this thing?

Can anyone Identify this little item and where it goes?

I remembered having left this bit off one side when reassembling side interior trim back on the car. It's pretty distinctive so I probably figured there's no way I'd forget where the heck it went. El wrongo.

This is off of a '99 S70 that I have just about ready to get re-registered and back on the road. Basically because I could, it's spent a couple of years in the garage in various stages of disassembly. I've had the dash out among other items, doing repairs on the cracking mounts. Tackling various maintenance items and upgrading the audio, adding power sockets, switches, etc.

Most of the less common fasteners I had grouped together in bags or bins but some still elude me as to where they go. This one I had thought went in the B pillar area down towards the bottom. At least that is if memory serves at all. I pulled both B pillar trims back off in an effort to see it's analog part installed somewhere. It probably goes under carpet somewhere along the rocker panel.

You're correct. It goes in the B pillar. I remembered it in the top portion that also connected the top of the window plastic trim to the B pillar plastic trim.

Thanks for the reply, Klaus!

They are the exact same orange color but that one is a little larger part with an 'ear' that you turn 90 degrees with your fingers to release the tabs from the front and rear roof trim that over laps there.

This little guy is a little push pin that has a bump that allows its release when turned with a flat head screwdriver. It may go in the B pillar yet, but that other larger orange part also may be the only reason I am associating it with that location.

Still lookin'...

Well as it turns out, there is one of these on one of each of the front door speaker mounts. I remember this now. Boy, those are some funky mounts. I have always intended to try and seal these somewhat and give them some semblance of a baffle.

I had the feeling I should have known I faked myself out on that whole B-pillar thing because it has the same color fastener at the top.
