Be careful saving $$$ with aftermarket parts - air filter element 2.5T V70-XC70 2005

About 6 years ago, I bought an air filter from one of the mail order companies that specializes in Volvo parts (both OEM and aftermarket). You very likely have used them.

I paid I think $15 for an air filter element. The thing didn't fit right from the start - sagged on one long side no matter how hard I tried. Of course, this means it was maybe 80% functional. Recently I had the filter box out, and noticed on this POC filter "China".

I finally ordered another, from the same mail order company. I paid careful attention to the "Made In" information. There was genuine Volve, but being a spend thrift I saved a few bucks and I went fot Meyle - Made in France... gotta be an improvement. Sure enough, fits like a glove.

I now trouble over Made In on everything I order, remembering well the working over I got from a company I thought I could trust to carry quality parts.

I'm in a ranting mood tonight - just went through a brake exercise that put me in the mood, to be recalled elsewhere.
