Comptability of blower motors

The blower motor went out in my 96 Volvo 850. There are some potential donors cars in the regional bone yard. Is the motor unique to the 850, or can I use V70, C70 motors as well? It's a non-turbo, and it's hot in Missouri this time of year!

Do you know for sure it's the motor, not the resistor? If the motor is old it can burn out the resistor and if the replacement motor is also old or worn out it will kill a new resistor sooner than a new motor will.

I went through this drama last summer, the resistor died 20 miles into a 3000 mile road trip. I did the trip with windows down instead of heat/AC and fixed it all when I got home. I was amazed how well it worked after the repair, and while I was in there I fixed the plastic flap that allows air through the floor vents.

      Good advice I think.

Same thing happened on my 2000 V70 last Summer. Opted to replace both the blower motor and resistor (ECC) with new parts. Didn't want to run the risk of ruining a new resistor with a bad motor.

V/S70 through 2000 and C70 to 2004. Some of the wiring mounting positions on the blower case may be different, but usable.
