I was always wondering who has the fastest Volvo 850 (TURBO or N/A) e.g. 1/4 mile times, HP motor or wheels and how they made there Volvo that fast i.e. mods etc.

Are there any rules to the level of modification?

I've been keeping track of an 850 with two T5 engines. One engine in the front powering the front wheels as normal, and another in the trunk powering the rear wheels. Assuming the person does all the same mods to the engine as those with just one T5 engine, I don't think it'll be much of a fight with twice the engine.

One funny part is the insignia he has on the back. It says T10, and it's true! lol

A while back, what was holding the car back was a cooling issue for the engine in the trunk. But I think they've been worked out.

I might have seen that car at One Lap of America last year - or was it a caddy?.... I'm getting old and losing the memory

What have you found out about it? I thought it lived in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and even though I drive past in the wee (and very thinly patrolled) hours of the morning on the one interstate highway near New Brunswick twice a week, I have yet to catch sight of it.

I think an 850 flying by at 180mph would even wake me up.

Of course Volvos are as common here as Toyotas in Tokyo.

What I knew about it was that it ran stock 850 Turbo Engines rated at 222hp and 219ft.lbs, and that about the only problem they ran into was cooling for the rear engine. And the rear engine actually had a littl more juice due to different intake and exhaust, but identical turbo.

Some things I'm sure they tried were dry ice on the rad, nitrous on the rad, air tunnel work underbody for the rad aided by fans, etc. When they were first testing it, they had to open up the trunk as often as possible, and even made a couple runs like that.

I'm sure if they've been working on it, but with all the new Volvo's getting all the attention, I guess not enough people are interested in a T10, to make it worth writing about/reporting.

Anyone from the New England area want to have a GTG at either New England dragway or Lebanon Valley to sort out this who's fastest thing. I'm game.

You're kidding, right? You are doing THAT to your tires woth a N/A S70? I am impressed (unless you put some oil under them wheels). In that case I am game with my S70, though I know I don't stand a chance with the turbos. Maybe we can have two categories: turbo and N/A. I am in Boston.
