1993 850 Volvo glove box lock 850 1993

The lock on my glove box broke. I bought a repair kit from IPD-USA which came without instructions. The download on their website is from the after-market maker of the repair kit and is absolutely worthless. The language is bad--"untight the screws" for example--and the pictures are too grainy to be of any help. Is there anyone out there who can help me find clear instructions on repairing the lock?

This is a terrible video, but everything you want to know.

If you take the door off, you will need an awl/punch/very small screwdriver to take off the plastic holders on each side. Be careful as they tend to fall back into the slot and then into the dash and not on the floor.

I like the idea of the coat hanger to find the latch to open the lid. Make your own and keep it next to the spare tire???

First, call IPD. They have a toll free number and ask for clear instructions relevant to an 850. Insist on it! IPD probably has a video for this somewhere, as does Youtube, just search for 850 glovebox.

      KlausC,

      Thank you for the reply.

The first thing I did when I saw the poor quality of the instructional download was to call IPD-USA. The only help they were able to give was to refer me to Brickboard and to Swedespeed. I have also checked out different sites, but none I have found so far have covered everything I need to know.

If I had a clear picture of the lock mechanism, I think I can figure out what needs to be done.
